Statement on the 2024 US Elections

Regardless of who assumes the oval office, we recognize that true change is rooted in community, justice, and the tireless work of organizers across the nation. We honor the resilience and dedication of everyone who organized, mobilized, and stood on the frontlines for a democracy that represents all people.

YUSRA envisions a society where collective action replaces individualism, and where abundance replaces scarcity. We strive for a future where leadership comes not from the top but from within communities, co-governed by those who deeply understand and uplift the lived experiences of our communities. We know this vision is possible through transformative organizing that centers the power, voices, and experiences of the most marginalized, who deserve sustainable support to drive real transformation.

The path to this vision is neither easy nor straightforward. This election has exposed the deep roots of white supremacy, patriarchy, and militarism that continue to undermine our communities and movements. We are deeply concerned by the rightward shift of the electorate, which reflects unmet needs and the dangers of scapegoating marginalized communities. Yet, we are steadfast in our commitment to building a movement that is grounded in justice and dignity for all.

YUSRA stands with grassroots groups, organizers, and advocates who know that real change requires sustained effort beyond the ballot box. We are committed to building year-round infrastructure that supports continuous civic engagement, movement resilience, and a sustainable organizing ecosystem.

In the face of escalating repression and attacks on our communities, YUSRA will continue to build solidarity, expand alliances, and confront injustice—whether it’s on the streets, at the ballot box, or within institutions. We will strengthen our commitment to ending violence, both abroad and at home, and we stand firm in our commitment to Palestinian liberation as we do for all struggles for justice and human rights.

Today, we renew our call to meet this moment with unity and strength. We call upon every person committed to justice to continue organizing, to refuse complacency, and to build a future where oppressive systems have no hold over our lives. This is our collective responsibility—to protect and uplift each other, and to persist until freedom and justice are realities for all.

Power lies with the people. Together, we rise. Keep fighting.
